Feel like you’re falling behind?
We’re only 8 days into the year and somehow a whole bunch of us feel like we’re already falling behind. How is that even possible??
I planned to go back to work on Jan 6 and yet I still felt like I should have been on Stories selling my ass off at 12:01am January 1st!
Sometimes the fact that we can see what everyone else has going on is so helpful and inspiring and sometimes it can send us into a black hole of What am I even doing? I should be doing more! I’m never going to get there!
Helpful, right??
So (because I always need to remind myself too) I’m here to remind you that you’re in just the right spot, doing exactly what you need to be doing!
One of my personal goals is always to stay focused on what I’m working on. Head down, in the moment, slaying distractions and procrastination like a pro. To plan in advance, get my projects all lined up in my calendar, and keep my eyes on my own paper as I plow through my tasks.
This is how I was able to launch my podcast without putting in 40 hours/week and skipping my holiday time off. We had a serious amount of cookies that needed to be eaten and the podcast was NOT gonna get in the way of that!
So I planned the entire launch the month before and worked on the episodes quietly behind the scenes, ignoring Instagram, putting in a few hours here and there through the end of the year. I actually had everything set and ready to go a week ahead of time so I could still enjoy some time off.
This helped to keep me from going into a full-on panic over launching, to only a flicker of FOMO, which feels like a pretty big accomplishment. Especially considering we are all creating in a space where everyone else’s behind the scenes is completely curated and readily available.
If you’re battling some new year FOMO, here’s what I’ve found helpful . . .
1 | Plan your tasks at least a month in advance so that when you worry that you’re falling behind you can look at your calendar and see all your ducks lined up in a perfect little row.
2 | Set goals for your business + personal life so that other ideas can be added to a separate list and not derail what you’re working towards right now. (If you need help setting goals + figuring out what ideas to implement this year the New Year, Next Level Workshop shows you how - only available until Jan 31st)
3 | Avoid that FOMO-moment by getting up, doing something else, or closing down work for the day when you get to the point of social media procrastination. (The more aware you are of your scrolling habits the more you’ll be able to change them.)
Hopefully one of those tricks will help you move toward a FOMO-free year. But FYI, I'm fully confident that you’re on the right path, moving at the right speed, to get exactly what you want. (Even if it feels like you’re off in the weeds!)
One foot in front of the other baby!
