3 ways to improve your chances of selling on social media

Today I want to share 3 things you can do to step up the chances of selling on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.

1 | Focus on breaking down a belief

What does your ideal client or customer believe that makes them think your product won’t work for them?

  • You have to pay a lot if you want nice jewelry

  • I have to use 15 every day products to have good skin

  • You have to be innately energetic and outgoing to improve your speaking skills

This is usually something that is obvious to you because you’re in the bubble and know everything about the topic but may be difficult for them to understand.

If you don’t break that down, they’ve already made a judgement on whether it will work for them. No transformation, bonus, feature, is going to sway that.

2 | Be more specific

What exactly are they going through that they want to change? What does it look, feel, sound like if they had the solution and actually fixed it? They need to understand that you have either been where they are or you are so good at what you do you can empathize.

I understand why selling is so hard because I felt that way too. I launched products and then just hoped people would find them on my site or click the link in the announcement blog post because actively promoting on a webinar when I got to the pitch it was like I had to switch into sales mode and it felt so pushy and uncomfortable.

You have to show you understand why they’re struggling. But it will also attract the right people for your product or program.

This is why the people that show up for my coaching program are such a good match. I am very specific with the examples I share and the people that will be a good fit go ‘that is exactly what i’ve been doing’

3 | Giving a clear call to action

What do they need to do to go from that post/story to purchasing? Often we expect that people know to go to our website to get something.

Kate, a student in my coaching group, sells practice tests through a 3rd party site. She was feeling resistance creating a post to sell. Her call to action was Go to the site for a free preview and then grab a copy.

But if you want people to buy, you have to tell them to buy. She was trying to soften the pitch with a free preview and sending them to an overcomplicated site with quizzes from lots of businesses.

We changed her promo text to: Head over prenursingsmarter.com/studyguides to get access now or click the link in my bio!

One pitch, specific instructions, with a freebie available as a surprise.

Selling is required to make money. If you’re beating around the bush when selling to your audience they may never realize how you can help.
