Selling feels so icky and spammy

Selling makes me SO uncomfortable! said one of my students on a recent coaching call. Everyone else on the call nodding in agreement. Selling is icky.

How many times have you gone to promote something and stopped short because you didn’t want to be spammy, salesy, or awkward?

I get this! Almost everyone hesitates to sell at the beginning of marketing their business because we have way too many examples of selling tactics that were a total turn-off.

But look around the room you’re in, at the coffee you just bought, at your favorite outfit. Someone or something sold that to you, right? A sales person, an ad, an Instagram post, an influencer.

You felt ok being sold those things, right?

If someone is trying to sell you something you don’t want or need, yes, it’s super annoying. (🤨 Lookin at you AT&T guy who stopped me mid-dog walk last week)

But your audience has shown up because they’re interested in learning from you, working with you, getting what you have.

So selling to them isn’t spammy...it’s HELPFUL.

I can’t tell you how many times people have responded to my Instagram posts + emails saying that ebook or course was EXACTLY what they’d been looking for.

If you don’t tell your audience what you have available, how are they going to know? We like to think people go digging for what they need. But we’re all way too caught up in our own lives for that. You have to show up and SERVE.
